Beauty School Graduation
I have some exciting news: I’m officially a beauty school graduate!
It was a very long hard year and a half (I had to do part time because of acting) but it was very worth it. For those of you who are thinking of starting beauty school be warned: it’s a lot harder than it looks, but man is it worth it!
I was very lucky to have made some great friendships and even though I was sad to not see them almost everyday we have kept in touch.
I’m not going to lie I didn’t love school, I never have. I had played around with hair, mostly for friends and family but I had never really DONE hair until I got to school. I was nervous my first day, was I going to love it or hate it?
Thankfully I ended up loving it, it became another form of art for me. I especially love doing color. It’s like painting. It’s actually kind of relaxing.
When I first started Cosmetology school I was so excited by everything and I kept for blog posts and YouTube videos on what it would be like, and then as it got closer I searched for Cosmetology School graduations.
I was sad because I couldn’t find a lot on it. Especially for Paul Mitchell The School, so that’s one of the main reasons why I wrote this post so people knew what to expect.
Now every school is different, including Paul Mitchells around the country. I attended Paul Mitchell The School Sherman Oaks and this is the run down of our graduation:
The event took place at the school itself. We had to have models to show off our talents. We had the option to do it in school or at home. Since I had already been done for a month and a half I chose to do my models hair at home (also my model was my mom, thanks mom!)
4:30- You and your models had to be ready for rehearsals
5:00- Rehearsals end and you touch up your models hair
6:00- Ceramony starts
We had our director open it up then a student spoke (yay Cindy you did great!) our favorite teacher Paul then took over and a woman from corporate closed it out.
Then it was the fashion show. I loved seeing what my friends and fellow graduates could do. Also I was very proud of my mom she looked beautiful.
We were presented our diplomas, a plaque, and a flower followed by a whole bunch of hugs from our staff.
It was closed out by the announcement of honors and dean’s list (which I didn’t do cause ya know I love learning but I hate school).
It was a little disorganized but all in all it was a great time. I was lucky enough to be sitting near most of my fiends. My two friends Taffy and Clarissa, who graduated way before me, were nice enough to come. Taffy even brought me flowers!
When everything was done we got the hell out of there, it was so crowded I was getting a little freaked out. We headed to The Cheesecake Factory, which was right next door.
The first thing I did? I ordered an adult lemonade. I think I earned it!
I would like to thank everyone who has helped me get through school and helped push me towards my goals. I couldn’t do it without you!
And to anyone who is thinking of going to beauty school, has just started or is almost done: Congratulations on making your first big step towards a happy life.
XoXo
